Aurangabad police has busted an inter-district vehicle theft gang. Police have arrested three members of the gang including the kingpin, while raids are being conducted at various suspected hideouts to arrest three others. According to police, the gang has stolen more than fifty two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers and then sold them to illegal traders by changing and tampering with the numbers. At present, police have recovered two stolen bikes from the gang.

Aurangabad’s Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO)-2 Amit Kumar said that Madanpur police was conducting intensive vehicle checking campaign to arrest some wanted criminals near Khiriyawan turn on NH-19. During this, a bike rider was stopped on suspicion. He was asked for the papers of his TVS Apache bike, which he could not show. After this, the police took him into custody. On being taken into custody, he introduced himself as Ritesh Kumar (20), son of Bharat Ram, resident of Runia in Salaiya police station area. During interrogation, he told the police that he had bought this bike from Ranjay Kumar, son of Veeran Yadav, resident of Tendua in Narari Kala police station area. He has the papers of the vehicle.

After this, the police reached Tendua and questioned Ranjay Kumar. During the interrogation, he told that the bike was stolen. He had got this bike for Ritesh from Gautam Kumar, resident of Mahuari of Narari Kala police station area, Ravindra Kumar, Nitish Kumar and Omprakash Kumar alias Bhura, resident of Jasoiya of Mali police station for Rs. 13,500. In return, he also got a commission of Rs. 1500. He also told that these four change the number plate of the stolen bike and sell it to those who use it in illegal trade. After the confession, the police duly seized a stolen Hero Honda Splendor Plus bike on the information of Ritesh Kumar and Ranjay Kumar. Then on the information of both of them, the police continuously raided the possible hideouts and bases of the inter-district vehicle thief gang involved in committing vehicle theft incidents. During the raid, the gang leader Ravindra Kumar (25), resident of Tendua of Narari Kala police station, was first duly arrested from various hideouts. In the matter, the police have registered a case no. 321/24 at Madanpur Police Station under sections 112, 317(5), 338, 336(3) and 340(2) of the Indian Penal Code and are taking further action.

The members of the inter-district vehicle theft gang caught by the police include Ritesh Kumar (20), resident of Runiya of Salaiya police station, Ranjay Kumar and Ravindra Kumar (25), residents of Tendua of Narari Kala police station. The absconding members of the gang include Gautam Kumar, resident of Tendua of Narari Kala police station, Nitish Kumar, resident of Mahuari and Om Prakash Kumar alias Bhura, resident of Jasoiyan of Mali police station. The police are continuously raiding various suspected hideouts to arrest them.

The police have recovered TVS Apache (number plate changed and forged) and Hero Honda Splendor Plus (number plate changed and forged) on the information given by the gang. The police team that exposed the vehicle theft gang included Madanpur SHO Rajesh Kumar, Sub Inspector Anup Kumar Singh, constable Lekhu Kumar, lady constable Neelam Kumari, home guard Ganesh Yadav, home guard Shyam Bahadur Kumar and members of the team of District Intelligence Unit Aurangabad.
